Been practicing with my Wacom Intuos 3 drawing tablet. Here’s a before and after. Not real happy with it yet, but I think I’m getting better.
The above is fine point Sharpie on scrap paper. Took maybe five to ten minutes.
Scanned it into Photoshop (I need to figure out how to import stuff in Manga Studio) and spent an hour or so cleaning it up, changing line weights and re-drawing big chunks.
Just about everything I’ve read says you need to spend three or four days practicing to get the feel of using a drawing tablet, so this was primarily an exercise in doing that. It’s strange watching the monitor while drawing on the tablet, plus I tend to spin the paper around to all kinds of weird angles when I draw–can’t do that with the tablet.
UPDATE: Watched some how-to vids–I so half-assed my tablet set-up.
A blog I frequent, Kung Fu Monkey–this is a sketch of what a “Kung Fu Monkey” might look like. He’s balanced on one hand-foot doing a Bruce Lee two-finger push-up.
Because Neil said this here.
This is me trying to draw the amazingly talented Maurissa Tancharoen, who among other things, is the hot “We’ll do the weird stuff” chick from Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Also, if you watch the Guild and saw this…
…she’s the sexy Asian backup dancer in silver.
I’ll write more about this guy in another post. I wasn’t even sure that I drew it at first, but then I found some other sketches…
Anyway, I’ll paste up the background story in a day or two. This is about twenty years old.
